What a fun and interesting video..!

I would love to see this parade ext year. The area I live in SW of Chaing Mai doesn’t seem to have anything fun like this.

Although many countries have a tax treaty with Thailand, that doesn't mean you don't have to file an income tax return in Thailand. You must file a return if you are in Thailand for 180 days or more in a calendar year. You will also have to provide proof to Thailand that you paid taxes in another country with the treaty. Finally, the devil is in the details, of the treaty. Although you paid income taxes, you may still have to pay in Thailand if Thailand's rate is higher, or if Thailand doesn't allow some deduction that the other country allowed, or if some income was exempted from tax in the first country but is taxable in Thailand. For example in Canada, capital gains income less than $200k are divided in half before being taxed in Canada, but Thailand may tax 100% of the capital gain income. There are many many differences in the tax code of Thailand and other countries. Every foreigner in Thailand staying more than 179 days in a year is going to screwed.

Another example why Thailand so great, they’re just living and enjoying. Having been there many times just seems like another normal day. 😅 👍

i left the UK 15 years ago to live in what was called the Czech republic , I lived there for just under a year. everything , I mean everything was better there than in the UK, the people , the food , the environment, the communities etc, nobody is on benefits unless its needed, everybody works hard and enjoys life, there are no gangs of scrote roadman gangs, no scummy chavs with 6 kids and living off benefits, no people claiming disability benefits when they are perfectly able bodied. the list goes on , I left manchester to live in ashfiled in Nottingham , even though we have problems here ,its still no where near as bad as manchester, I would love to move away from the UK permanently. I don't believe the UK can be saved at this point

The high street started dying years ago when people started shopping online more. Also loads of towns UK have always been shit and grim. UK is definitely not without its problems don't get me wrong but most of it is way better than Bolton.

I am a Canadian who has been visiting Thailand since 2006, each year for 5 to 12 months, on a retirement visa. Because of the new tax rules, I now will limit my stay in Thailand to 179 days or less in a calendar year. As you stated, the new tax rules are not clear and I certainly don't want to expose my self to unknown tax rules and regulations. I will be visiting Malaysia and Vietnam, and perhaps Philippines in 2024 to assess moving to these other countries.

I loved the UK once, but no more.The weather has always been appalling, but the UK as we once remember it has died.

Great village festival ( better than my Thai village celebration last week). Just in case your Western viewers don’t know, the guys in “black face” are representing a folklore character “Ngo-Pa” (เงาะป่า) which is a costume based on a character that appeared in a Thai traditional play writing from 1906 and a folktale during the 18th century. The character was originally based on an ethnic group, Negrito, in the Southern part of Thailand.

Thailand is always frigging about with their expat rules. They blow hot and cold, just depending on their short-term mood at the time. Thailand is a nice place, but the institutional chaos and the endemic insecurity that follows really pisses me off.

Great video. Nice to see the real Thailand . Having previously lived in Bangkok for 5 years I can tell you the Thais love to have fun , they make the most of life regardless of their situation. We westerners could do well to emulate them !

Loved this Vlog, it optimises the nature of the Thai people, don't take life so serious. It's meant to be enjoyed it's meant to be fun. If you are caught drinking in the streets here in Australia you will be arrested !! And there in lies the fundamental difference between the two countries. We are far far far too uptight here. I love this village gatherings and festivals, weddings, funerals. entering the monkhood, fireworks etc. They are all and excuse to escape the hum drum, often boring, or repetitive lives that they lead. It is always good fun except later on when the liquor has flowed all day and someone takes exception to someone else and it all kicks off. As you said Ryan, in many ways no different from parties, weddings and funerals in UK where vast quantities of alcohol or other substances are involved. However, things are much more colourful here in rural Thailand, and there is always something going on. Glad that you were able to catch the fun element of the parade on camera. This is why I love Thailand for it's traditions, heritage and culture plus nobody gives a 💩 if you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans or straight and nobody forces their own preferences on you unlike in the West, I watched a trans woman walking down the high street in my hometown of Wigan you should of seen their faces, it was pathetic but the radical left in the LGBTQ+ community "which I call the alphabet zoo because I have given up how many pronouns they are forcing us to use"are doing more damage than good for people to except who they are. I miss Thailand but it won't be many more years until I retire and move there permanently it would have been a village near Surin sadly me and Ao finished last year but hopefully a village just like this to see my final days out in peace and quiet but an occasional crazy time like this😂😂😂.

So different from how people in the West celebrate their sexuality/gender/etc....In the West they dress up kids or are dancing with/for kids or include kids as part of the parade/show. It was hard for me to find anyone below the age of 12 or so, even as a spectator. Looks like a good time for all. Nice Video Guru.
